Properly lay your sod. Your soil should be prepared before you lay the sod. Eradicate any weeds and work the soil until it is very fine. Make sure your soil is flat and compacted. You then will want to thoroughly wet the soil. Sod must be arranged in staggered rows; each joint should offset one another. Compact the sod down so you form a flat and even surface, then fill in any crevices within the sod by using some soil. You will have to water the sod every day for 2 weeks, and then it should be firmly rooted to the ground, and able to be walked on.
Bulbs planted in the spring can flower all the way into summer. Bulbs will grow every year and are easier to take care of than seeds. Keep in mind that different bulb types bloom differently and at different time periods, so when you choose a bulb plan accordingly, you can have your plant blooms lasting spring into summer.
Plant some wheat grass or cat grass near where you car tends to nibble in your garden. It may also work to add citrus peelings or mothballs to the soil of the plants, because the odor is unpleasant to cats.
Knee Pads
A set of knee pads is a great investment if your garden has a lot of low-growing plants. If you spend a large portion of your gardening session on your knees, it could create pain over time. You can be more comfortable in the garden with a good pair of horticulture knee pads.
One very good way to deal with weeds is to boil them away. A pot full of boiling water is an effective herbicide, yet it is, chemically speaking, completely harmless. Literally pour the water on the weeds, avoiding any wanted plants near them, and watch the weeds die over time. Weed roots will suffer harm from boiling water, and this will probably stop them from growing more.
